GOD’S NOT DEAD: A LIGHT IN DARKNESS—in theaters March 30—is the third installment in a series known for pushing boundaries and driving conversations about faith—both inside and outside the church.
With another star-studded cast of characters, both new and returning, the creators are hoping to elevate the conversation about faith in America today.
We recently sat down with David A.R. White, who plays Reverend Dave in the films, to discuss the past two films and where they are headed next.
“When GOD’S NOT DEAD came out, we got such a great response, such powerful, incredible testimonies from people and how the films touched their lives. We’ve heard from parents who had kids that were wayward kids, and somebody told them about the movie and they went to see it and they started re-thinking a relationship with Jesus Christ and started opening their Bibles again. I can’t tell you how many parents have come up to me and told me that.
“Some people have said they had walked away from God. They said, ‘I was an atheist and I saw that film and it started me thinking. I started opening God’s Word up again.’
“We underestimate God’s power in a lot of things, but if we can make these films that uplift and inspire the human spirit, that is what we are trying to do with our films.
“One of the things that we say is that we want to bring you, the audience, to higher levels of insight into who God is and the purpose that He has for your life.
I believe that GOD’S NOT DEAD: A LIGHT IN DARKNESS does that. It deals with loss, it deals with brokenness and anger and frustration and truly ‘Is God good all the time?’ God says, ‘My Word will not come back void.’ When you put God’s Word into movies, it will impact lives, and we’re just honored to be a part of it.”
GOD’S NOT DEAD: A LIGHT IN DARKNESS, the most socially relevant faith film of the year, is opening in theaters nationwide on March 30.
